The Business Roundtable's new statement of the purpose of business regarding the need to move away from shareholder primacy and to address the multi-stakeholder environment has prompted global businesses to rethink and adjust priorities, particularly in the direction of more sustainable and inclusive growth.

Firms face even more intense pressure to make tradeoffs between various stakeholders as the coronavirus pandemic hits earnings and disrupts business-as-usual. The crisis also brings new opportunities for businesses to innovate in order to generate longer-term prosperity. How should business leaders think about purpose under pressure? How would the concept of stakeholder capitalism translate in the regional and local context? Please join us in this timely conversation with Peter Tufano, Dean of the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford, where we will have an opportunity to explore some of these themes.

Please note that this event is limited to senior-level executives and per invitation only. If you are not an existing member of The Economist Corporate Network, but would like to learn how you can attend our events, please send an email to ecn_hongkong@economist.com.
